Question Will my I7-4790 (Non-K) pair well with an RTX 2060?

I really want to upgrade my gpu from my Gtx 970 to the RTX 2060 and wondered if I would get any bottlenecking with my I7-4790 @3.6Ghz?

there is no GPU/CPU bottleneck without considering resolution.

at 4k/60 Hz --> GPU bottleneck
1440/144Hz --> both are not ideal, but GPU is weaker compared to CPU
1440p/60Hz --> match made in heaven
1080p/144Hz --> depends on the game. in some singleplayer games you'll be rather GPU bound, in multiplayer games you could be CPU bound, but overall it's a good match
1080p/60Hz --> the GPU is more capable than the cpu, the bottleneck will be the screen though

in that case... depends on the game
your 2060 will struggle with high fps at 1440p. the 4790 should be able to get you 100+ fps, but will struggle with 144 in some titles

What if I bought the 2060 super with the extra 2gb vram? Will that help me game better at 1440p? Btw I have 16gb ram

How much your Budget If you have good budget go for RX 5700 xt that should do you well on 1440p and 144hz at least.

Well you can go for that or another alternative for you is Go for GTX 1080 Ti the performance of the Ti is near identical to the RTX 2080 without the Ray Tracing Tensor Cores but the performance is good. if you can get cheaper then that would be better option for you at 1440p/144 hz
