Question Will my motherboard support my new processor?

I have a pc having mercury motherboard (PI945Z), it has fsb of 1066 .........I am planning to buy a processor (Intel Core 2 Duo E8500), so I am confused , my processor is 1333mhz so will it support my motherboard? Any further details required will be provided.

Does the motherboard support the CPU?

Check the motherboard's specs and the list of supported CPUs and RAM. And at what clock speeds.

Read the fine print.

Pay attention to power requirements if you have a PCIe GPU, additional drives, etc..
