Will my old PNY GT 545 GPU work on my newer motherboard?

Hello all!

This will probably strike as a silly question, but I've been starting a project for my first diy gaming rig. Recently I've purchased the case, as well as the motherboard (an MSI b150m GRENADE motherboard)

Case: https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16811147254

I plan on purchasing a 76-7700 i5 Kaby Lake cpu after my next paycheck. Power supply, cpu cooler and RAM to follow.

QUESTION: I have an old PNY GT 545 1.5gb graphics card in my current desktop..would I be able to temporarily use that card in my current motherboard, simply until the newer GPU arrives?

EDIT: I failed to mention, in replacement I'm buying a 1060 to replace that old GT 545.

The GT 545 might still be worth using i just wanted to point out you could just use the HD graphics for now as they perform...
Yes you can however, i would probably advise just using the onboard graphics on the CPU instead, the newer Kaby Lake HD graphics whilst no where near any modern dedicated card, isn't half bad and according to UserBenchmark, it actually slightly outperforms a GT 545. But if you really want to use the old GT 545, you can indeed use it on the new Motherboard. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the response! I honestly didn't even think about the integrated graphics in the Kaby Lake. Do you possibly have the link for the benchmarks between the two? I'm simply curious to see where they differ.

Thanks again :)

The GT 545 might still be worth using i just wanted to point out you could just use the HD graphics for now as they perform fairly similar and you'll have to stick to lower games for the time being. I struggled to find many comparisons between Skylake (not Kaby Lake sorry) Intel HD and the GT 545 due to the age cap but this should give somewhat of a general comparison without proper game benchmarks.
