Solution
It really depends on which operating system you have. Windows basically comes in two different types 32-bit and 64-bit.

Windows (any version) 32-bit will only recognize up to around 3.2GB - 3.4GB of RAM even if you install a total of 6GB.

Windows (any version) 64-bit will allow you to use all 6GB of RAM.

You can download Speccy from the following link. Launch it and it will tell you which version of Windows you have and if it is 32-bit or 64-bit. If you have Windows XP, then it is definitely 32-bit.

As jaquarskx said, you need an 64-bit os in order to use all the 6GB of RAM.
Your motherboard supports up to 8GB, so there should be no problem.
(you can see it in your motherboard's specification: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3610#sp)

Okay, that mean you currently have a 2GB stick of DDR2 800 RAM with 6-6-6-15 timings.

Generally speaking, all you need to do is find a 4GB stick of DDR2 800 RAM with the same timings. Using the same brand is preferable, so if the 2GB RAM stick is made by Kingston, then look for a Kingston 4GB stick. RAM sold under the Crucial brand name are generally very compatible with many PC motherboards.

If you cannot find DDR2 800 RAM with 6-6-6-15 timings, then buy the stick with the closest timings. Higher numbers means the RAM is slower so... performance is lower. When mixing and matching RAM sticks with different timings they will run at the slower speed. But don't be too concerned, the only way to really see the difference between 6-6-6-15 and something like 9-9-9-15 timings is by running benchmarks and comparing the two numbers. For everyday usage you are not going to be able to tell the difference.

Be careful, your memory is DDR3 (not DDR2), so you have to get DDR3 Memory. The motherboard site says it support 8GB DDR3, so you can populate each of the two memory sockets with a 4GB DDR3 stick (or use the actual 2GB and get a 4GB DDR3 stick).
