Hi guys.

I have a GTX275 and is looking to upgrade!

Current system spec's

Athlone x4 640 Quad core
8Gb Hynix DRR3
750watt PSU
Foxconn Mobo - Don't know spec's
GTX275
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

The question is will my current system be enought to handle a
Gigabyte GTX 480 with Zallman Vf3000 cooller!
Getting it for my bday!

Please advise for maximus use of GPU!

Thanks

Hello,

Do not bother with the GTX 480 - it is old technology (but still decent).

If anything - throw away the idea of th zalman cooler and put the money towards the GTX 670.

Your system will be able to handle a GTX 670 - and it would be more futureproof than an old GTX 480.

And if you do decide to upgrade in the future - you could transplant the GTX 670 into the new computer.

There might be some bottleneck with your Quad core - however at least you would be able to max out all your games all the way up to 1920x1080.

Edit: If your using such a low resolution - 1366x768 a 560TI would suffice.

That will be fine, you might (will) not be getting all the 480 can give but it won't be so bad you need to throw more money at your AMD system. Plus foxcon is not known as an overclocking motherboard untill you get to the really highend and even then the results are....... meh at best.

Get the 480 (if it is 199 or less) you can still play on great settings for the next year and a bit

Im kind of a noob when it comes to overclocking. Help? :D

Getting a new motherboard for AMD is pointless honnestly wasting more money on a 955/965/970/980BE is a waste when you could buy a 2100/2130 and a 50 dollar motherboard and see better performance.

The 480 at 200 bucks is a great deal providing you have a PSU that can handle it
Despite the 7850 being far better in power consumption the 480 is a bit more powerfull and conciderably more powerfull when overclocked reasonable margin.

i tell him if he had that processer supported mobo then he should buy that 965 etc and amd phenom ii x4 be chips are not waste in multitasking i3 cant beat it i3 can beat it in gaming while the phenom chip is not overclocked once overclocked to 4.0 ghz that 965be then it will get far better performance then i3.
