Question Will switching from 16GB 2400 to 32GB 2600 give boost in fps in 14400p gaming?

I have asus b360 m e tuf gaming
I5 8500
Gigabyte 2080 super
16 gb 2400 corsair i think

Wondering if i will get more fps boost by going extra 16gb and 2600 which is maximum what my motherboard supports.

I play 1440p all ultra on 74hz overclocked monitor and dont mind 50-75 fps

What games? What’s your cpu usage on each core during the game?

Metro Exodus, Assasins creed Origins/Oddysey, Division 2, Red dead redemption, Battlefield 1,5, Hitman 1,2 , GEARS 5, Modern Warfare, GTA5, Far cry primal, any new upcoming heavy AAA game really.

I like to play all on ultra 1440p or even 4k in future. I only play single player.

I dont have high CPU usage, even on Metro Last light redux I use 3x SSAA and my frames are ok but wish it was a bit higher

Your best bet would be getting 16GB @3000mhz as that is the sweet spot. Also why 2080 but only i5 8500? Should have gotten 2070 or 2060 and an 8700 or something similar

You will experience no difference. Spent your money elsewhere. You could try to overclock your existing memory though.
Seriously you bought RTX 2080, however if you bought 2070 and used the money for a better mobo (stay away from TUF, unless money is really an issue) and CPU, it would be better. You need to upgrade your mobo and CPU. 32 GB for gaming is only meaningful for certain games. Don't upgrade to 32 GB, first upgrade your mobo and CPU.

I am a BFV player, I have 9700K and 1070 and 32 GB of RAM. For Battlefield more than 16 GB of RAM is meaningless. I have a QHD monitor with High to Ultra settings my FBS is around 70 to 90. By the way if you want to increase your fps, don't use RTX.

Very well said. He should have got a 2060 at the least, upgraded CPU, Motherboard and got 16GB @3000mhz ram

I saw reviews on i5 8500 vs 8700 or even stronger i7 CPU's and the difference is like 4-8 FPS on 1440p max settings

Why would I spend extra money on new mobo and CPU for a few fps? Its not like the difference is 10-15 fps. And by the time its 1440p or even 4k the difference is negligeble and GPU takes most of the load

I saw a review of i5 8500 on AAA games at 1440p and bought it as it was running great. I run my GTA 5, BF1 at 60+ FPS no issues

From reading this whole board and reviews, it seems that the whole CPU thing is for 1080p online players, which I am not

I just thought of upgrading Memory to 2600 because at least that can bring the best from my CPU

There is no point asking question to 2 people

1)1080 p players''

2)online players

Disregard my question and continue to suggest me to spend my $$$$ on a new mobo and CPU for extra 4 fps

You are asking us how to get more frame per second. Yes I am a gamer. But you are asking the question and we are trying to help.

Please check the link below:

Your CPU does not allow you to use your GPU fully. Even for single player it is not just a few fps, somehow more than that.

I will try to clarify some.

All b360 motherboards have a ram speed cap at 2666mhz, so suggesting a 3200mhz or 3000mhz kit doesnt make sense if it will only be capable of running at 2666mhz. Also, Intel does not require high-frequency ram for close to optimal performance, so your 2400mhz dual channel kit is adequate.

16gb is the sweet spot for games currently. Upgrading to 32gb is unlikely to provide any benefit at all unless you are running several background applications while gaming. Also, since your motherboard has 2 ram slots, upgrading to 32gb would mean removing your current ram and buying a new expensive 32gb kit.

Not true. With a high-end 2080 super, even at 1440p, a weaker CPU can cause issues.

I reccomend you turn down graphics settings. If your FPS goes up significantly, you are GPU bound and ram or CPU upgrade may not improve overall FPS.
If you dont see a lot of FPS increase from turning down settings, you are CPU bound and need a CPU upgrade.

done all that. My Metro Last light 4x to 3x to 2x SSAA increases FPS drastically and I see the load on MSI Afterburner, its GPU bound

8500 is a great CPU and I checked many reviews, there is a good test with the same system as mine, comparing CPU's and mine one vs some i7 or something. There is even i5 8400 one that was doing really well.

No stutter so far in a few games

I just thought throwing 32 GB and going from 2400 to 2600 can do some work as this is not a major step up, i can sell my RAM and get a decent cheap Corsair ram and perhaps can get some FPS boost without having to change moboard or CPU

And no need to change CPU as in future if my 8500 becomes weak for some AAA games I still have an upgrade path to i7

I am so far testing this system and CPU does well. Like I said there are some reviews on 1440 and 4K gaming on these CPU's, it would not make sense for me getting a motherboard with CPU for extra $$$ at this stage

Not worth the time or money. The extra ram capacity will be unused, and the faster ram speed will affect performance in a minuscule way which will not change performance when GPU bound.

Or even an I9 with a bios update, but a cheap B360 motherboard will not be happy running a high-end CPU.

I know, i get it. But there is a real review of my system with i5 8500 vs i7 8700 and the difference is so negligible.

There is literally like 3 fps difference in far cry 5 at 1080. Imagine the difference at 1440. Tomb raider like 4 fps or 5 fps at 1080

Hmmm. Could you shed some more light on this one? Again, this is only in respect to FPS at 1440p all max/ultra at 74Hz resolution.

Where are you finding this data?
Imagine the difference at 1440.
I dont have to, as there are facts that prove the difference is a lot more than you think.

In Far Cry 5 at 1440p an I5 8400 gets 99fps in FC5 and an 8700k gets 124fps, according to this benchmark with an RTX2080. You may see even more of a benefit from a better CPU since you have a superior GPU that would stress the CPUs even further.

With the latest firmware update available here, your B360 motherboard is capable of supporting a 5.0ghz 8 core Intel Core I9 9900k, which is currently the best gaming CPU to date.

However, modern I7 and I9 CPUs consume an immense amount of power.

Unfortunately, your motherboard is a budget model with power delivery not designed to handle the immense power consumption of a high-end CPU. You may see high VRM temperatures and lowered CPU clock speeds in order to not damage your motherboard from overheating.

tdauREAwqYvHhsTjDHesSH-650-80.png

For example, an 8700k draws over 150w and the I9 9900k is over 200w, double what your i5 draws.
The 9900ks which is essentially a 9900k with a 5ghz factory overclock will draw closer to 250w.
Cheaper motherboards simply cannot cope with this power draw.
