After learning a few things about you, I think you should be looking at ryzen 2600 more.

As just some advice that I can give you is that, the 8600/8400 is a great cpu, but the i7-8700 or ryzen 2600 will be a more versatile cpu. The 2600 is a great value and is cheaper to run, able to overclock on stock cooler. (You may want to overclock later on, It's to keep your options open). The ryzen has a lot of threads, making streaming available as well as editing.

Ryzen will be a cheaper and more flexible system, someone your age with a constant change of direction in your life, you'll benefit from this route more.

It is your choice in the end, I don't see much reason in the 8600 unless it's a k, 8500 may be a better $ value.

No. Sorry, but this is a waste of money.

The case is small, doesn't mean you can't put a beefy cpu in it.... Afterall you're putting a beefy GPU in it, what's the difference?

It is more difficult to configure small cases because you have to account for the heat in bigger detail. A moderate overclock will not melt your computer.

Say no to Seagate drive.

You can get a cheaper motherboard for non k. At that price a z board would be a better choice

PSU is too expensive for it's quality

yea i want a small case build and the psu is the only good one for its size.
Why no seagate drive?
so you dont think a k will roast my system compared to a non k?
Also do you think i should get a cooler or is intel stock cooler fine?

Since it's a small case, invest into high flow fans. From the wideness of the case, looks like you can put a full sized cpu cooler that will work with the directional air flow of the case.

Seagate drivers are not very good in reliability, Western digital is a better choice.

I think if you have a decent budget, and you are willing to spend into the airflow of the case, you can get yourself a better system without worrying about system meltdown.

I know you were set on the 8400, but you can do better without a lot of compromise, the case is very wide as I said, so it does have good potential. I'm going to wait for your reply on what you think about this

I think ill keep the cpu as the i5-8600 because there is barely a difference with the i5-8600k because i do not plan to overclock, additionally ill use the cpu cooler i picked and switch the seagate to a WD

I personally will go with the 8700 for a locked cpu.

A cpu fan configuration would be better if it pulled air along the airflow. The better cooler will do a good job with noise, but it won't be all that worth it since you are not running a kcpu.

What is your plan for the system? Gaming purely?

ITX boards are quite pricy... This board is very good for it's price, although only 2 fan headers (for the case, 2 fan connections on motherboard, although, if you do a small build, you may not need more headers than that)

Everything looks to be top notch, 2 things to change

You don't need thermal paste, the cooler comes with it

The graphics card you choose is not great, it's got only 2 year warranty and a single blower fan design is usually not very good.

One thing I didn't see is that your case is fanless, although the ryzen cooler is pretty good for stock, I would have doubts on the Overclocking since there isn't much airflow. Sorry I'll back track on that, I'll check which cooler would be best for your rig for a decent price
