Alright, I just need to know if the FX 6300 will bottleneck the HD 7950. I'm looking to build a new computer, and I'm trying to refrain from spending more than I have to. I'm looking to play games such as Battlefield 3, Crysis, Borderlands 2, Skyrim (w/ mods) and others. I don't care about benchmarks; I know Intel smokes AMD. I'm solely looking for real world performance. One more thing, I don't want a dual core processor. I have come to understand that some games are greatly affected by this; for example, BF3's campaign was missing a character when run on a dual core processor.

Here's the build I have thus far. I would like to keep it below $750ish, but I cannot exceed $800. I have to make room for the Razor Deathadder gaming mouse. Other than that, all opinions and suggestions are welcome. I love learning.

Solution
It really depends on the game but with that setup you shouldn't have trouble playing games on high settings.

Edit: Now that I think of it, overclock it and you should be fine. Consider what I said above if at stock clocks.

I would try to avoid the x6 Phenoms, as I've heard they're not the best at gaming, and get outperformed by x4 Phenoms frequently. The FX 6300 would be a much better choice.

You will come across this when you carry on researching anyway.

Hm, this benchmark says different. Although, these are older games. Not sure how well it would perform in newer titles. Oh well, I'll probably end up with the i5 3570k anyways. :) Thanks for the tip though. I wouldn't use it solely for gaming; I would use it for video editing/rendering as well. As I progress in my Computer Science degree, I would imagine I would make great use of it in other programs as well.

No fanboy here that is the facts look up benchmarks. Also it doesn't work like that you get what you pay for. If the PileDriver performed equally to an I5 it would be priced accordingly. You aren't going to get similar performance to the I5 for half the price, sorry but it doesn't work like that.
