Hello! I am new to PC gaming and I would like to upgrade my (fairly) old HP Pavilion p7-1436s with a new graphics card, but I am unsure as to if my computer can support it, or if I need to buy some new parts, like a better CPU. My specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD AMD A6-5400K Trinity Dual-Core 3.6 GHz
Mobo: MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)
GPU: AMD radeon HD 7540D
RAM: 8gb
PSU: 300W

Will the CPU badly bottleneck the 1050 Ti? An answer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Solution

other way, the cpu will limit the 1050 ti

AMD Athlon X4 740 is listed as compatible for sure

The Jasmine and the JasmineR are both MS-7778.

Jasmine-Version 0.8
JasmineR-Version 1.0

if you have the jasmine R the best cpu is the Athlon X4 760K

open the case and...

open the case and look at the mobo version

should be printed on the mobo below the processor

make sure whatever 1050 ti you get does NOT need a 6-pin pcie cable from the power supply

Hi! Thanks for replying. I opened the case, and I can confirm that it says "MS - 7778 VER: 1.0". That would mean it is JasmineR correct? And you are suggesting the Athlon X4 760K. This is it right? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113348
Also, I am thinking on getting the ZOTAC GTX 1050ti that I believe doesn't require a 6-pin connector, and it takes the power straight from the motherboard.
Thanks again!
