My quick google search indicates that a is an AMD motherboard, so no it will not work with an Intel processor.

Depends on what you are doing? For the most part Intel will out perform AMD.

For that motherboard (it's GA-78LMT-S2 most likely) there isn't many options for upgrade. FX-6300, FX-8100 and FX-8300 are the best ones it can fit.
All of them, which if you have too old version, need BIOS update.
