Hello,
I just received my Intel Core 17-2600, but I'm having trouble installing it (I'm a newb). It requires more force to pull down the little lever than the older CPU, and I don't want to risk it.

This is my motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1156/P7P55DE_LX/
Where it shows what processors it supports there's a picture of the i7, but as I said I'm a newb.
Thanks

Short answer, No.

You have the previous generation socket, 1156.

The Intel CPUs are socket 1155 (and LGA2011).

You will have to replace your board to run any of the current Intel CPUs.

Oh man... I checked with a friend if it would, guess he (and I) was wrong...

Is there any motherboard you would recommend?

lol, don't worry, everyone makes mistakes 😛

As for the a new motherboard, look at a motherboard with a Z77 chipset. That will future-proof your build (if Intel doesn't change from the 1155 socket for the next generation of CPUs)

Brand wise, can't go wrong with an ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI motherboard.
