Hey guys!!

I'm building my first PC, and I want to make sure that the GTX 970 that I'm buying will be compatible with the CORSAIR CX600M 600W power supply. Both Newegg links are below:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139048
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487136

The specs for GTX 970 say that you need

Power Connector
6-Pin / 8-Pin

Do I need both 6-pin and 8-pin?

My power supply has:

PCI-Express Connector
2 x 6+2-Pin

(not completely sure what that means to be honest)

Will that be fine? I'm on a really tight budget. Just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money. Overall, will the GTX 970 be fine with this power supply. No power issues?

Thanks guys.

Does it need to be Newegg? At NCIX they have a very good deal on the EVGA B2 for ~$45,

even at Newegg it's still fine looking at what you pay for the XFX.The other antec option is a good choice too.The XFX you chose will do fine as well.

One thing isn't really clear.Do you already own the CX600M?

Someone else suggested this as well (Vic 40), but I dont live in the US; NCIX doesn't ship to America. Newegg shipping is too expensive...

I think I'll go with the 520W and maybe wait for a sale on Amazon (Black Friday? maybe). What do you guys think?

Well in that video the 4790K,i think it was, drew about 175watts when overclocked to 4.4ghz so the i5 should draw abit less, with some luck 150watts,but it depends on the Vcore used as well. The efficiency still comes into play here as wel.
The gpu,i don't know. Some reviewers ,like TechPowerUp or Guru3D,try to estimate the draw of a gpu.Look at a review of them.Overclocking of the gpu is nice, but the returns it gives only gets bigger when already being in the high numbers.A stock or factory overclocked gpu should already do fine when buying it,otherwise should you get a better one.
Even overclocking the cpu does nothing at this point, maybe give a few extra fps when in a cpu dependent game. It's imo something for the future,to give extra life expectancy to the pc.

From what i heard does the Guru of Gravy do just that.Maybe pm him about it.He already got involved in this topic so why not?

I do indeed run SLi 970's on a 620w PSU, I also have a pair of 660Ti's running on the other 620w PSU and they are more power hungry than the 970's.

So, I'm safe to get the 520W? Or do you think I should spend the extra 15$ and go for the 620W, so I could SLI in the future

Update: I can reduce my CPU from i5 4690k to i5 4590 and reduce 20$. I could used that for getting the 620W. Worth it?

Yes 520watts is fine for one gpu.

Is abit cheaper and has the 4 pcie connectors for sli.Just not modular.

Keeping the 4690K for that little amount of extra money would be my choice, but it's up to you.The 4590 would do fine as well.

The questions you need to ask yourself are,

Am i really going to overclock?
Am i really going for sli in the future?

make sure you want this.

TBH I think OC'ing is a bit pointless these days, I'm running my 970's with a 2600k (and a 620w PSU) and I can't say that I have found myself needing a higher framerate in anything that I've played on them. IMO if you want higher framerates then go for 980's, the 970 is just a 980 that didn't make the grade after all.

The price difference between the cheapest 980 and 980ti, on pcppartpicker, is roughly $160. The 390x is about $50 cheaper, than a 980. The 970 is about $150 cheaper, than a 980. There's a bigger gap in performance, between the 980ti vs the 980, than there is the 980 vs the 970. Nvidia has a similar problem with the GTX 950 vs the 960, just on a smaller scale, price wise.

Over here the price difference is about $225 after doing the conversion, not everyone is in the US.

OK, thanks guys! I should have bought all this stuff earlier, because all the prices have increased from 780 to 820. Well, I guess I'll have to wait...

UPDATE: The 4590 is EXTREMELY cheap now, so decided to get that. How is this:

What do you think? Will the i5 4690k REALLY make a difference in gaming? How much difference in FPS will there be between those two builds, do you think? Maybe 5 FPS?

What motherboard do you recommend that's < $100? Thanks :)

Update: It's got 2 PCIE slots, isn't that enough for SLI?

PCI Express 3.0 x16
1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16

PCI Express 2.0 x16
1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16

It may have two slots but it's a Crossfire only board.

LOL. Ok, what do you recommend for a good SLI motherboard under $100. 😀

Are there any for that kind of money? I don't live in a country that uses $'s as it's national currency.

There seem to be... Not sure. What country do you live, just out of interest? :) Also, I figured out that H97's cant support SLI... so, I guess I have to get Z97 if I want SLI.

Yeah, I guess I should just upgrade. There aren't many reviews on that motherboard. Thanks dude. I think I'll go with the same motherboard. What do you guys think of my build? Anything that is bad or is not reliable?

Hmmm... What's the difference between cases? Is there that much difference (just curious)? All the cases have dual fans. How would the more expensive one be better?

Thanks =D

Sorry for the late response, my current PC was being weird.

Has not only to so with having two fans,it has to do with cable management for instance. The Rosewill has the psu at the top where i prefer it at the bottom where it can take in fresh air from outside the case. The hdd mounting is better in these other cases as well, etc.
