Hey guys!!

I'm building my first PC, and I want to make sure that the GTX 970 that I'm buying will be compatible with the CORSAIR CX600M 600W power supply. Both Newegg links are below:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139048
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487136

The specs for GTX 970 say that you need

Power Connector
6-Pin / 8-Pin

Do I need both 6-pin and 8-pin?

My power supply has:

PCI-Express Connector
2 x 6+2-Pin

(not completely sure what that means to be honest)

Will that be fine? I'm on a really tight budget. Just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money. Overall, will the GTX 970 be fine with this power supply. No power issues?

Thanks guys.

Does it need to be Newegg? At NCIX they have a very good deal on the EVGA B2 for ~$45,

even at Newegg it's still fine looking at what you pay for the XFX.The other antec option is a good choice too.The XFX you chose will do fine as well.

One thing isn't really clear.Do you already own the CX600M?
Thanks dude! I went with the Cooler Master that you mentioned because it was only a couple of bucks more expensive in Australia. The shipping from the US was just too high...so I'm looking for a good overclockable motherboard (Z97?) that's compatible with i5-4690k. My price range is up to $140 AUD. I've found an MSI PC MATE that's $155; anything else inside that price range?

PS: Are all the LGA1150's compatible with the i5 4690k?

An imo good choice.:)

this one via Amazon,
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GA-Z97X-SLI-2-Way-DualBIOS-Motherboard/dp/B00K2RQAQY/ref=sr_1_94?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1443352590&sr=1-94&refinements=p_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A5657494011%2Cp_36%3A1253506011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2057458011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A7111792011%2Cp_n_condition-type%3A2224371011
don't know what that will be with shipping rates and additional costs.
Other choice, but not Amazon as the shop it shis from,
http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-LGA1150-Chipset-USB3-0-Motherboard/dp/B00LPW70TG/ref=sr_1_68?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1443352324&sr=1-68&refinements=p_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A5657494011%2Cp_36%3A1253506011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2057458011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A7111792011%2Cp_n_condition-type%3A2224371011
The shop M-wave does have an Australian brance so maybe it's possible to go via them.

Yes,but for overclocking is the Z97 the choice. Can also look at a B85/H97+i5 4590 and forget about overclocking, but is already mentioned i think.

Yeah, was going to ditch the 4690k and go for the 4590, but I had one of those Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo's in my house. But those motherboards are good, I think I'll go with the Gigabyte. Last question before I buy the motherboard: Will this motherboard (ATX) fit in the cooler master case you mentioned?

I assume so because the Cooler Master case is 'ATX Mid Tower', and the Gigabyte MOBO is ATX.

About overclocking, I'm probably not going to do it right away. I'll probably do it when the CPU/GPU gets outdated and not powerful enough to run the latest games.

Also, do you think the new Skylake is worth it (it's only 20$ bucks more including the motherboard & CPU)? AFAIK, though, DDR4 ram is super expensive and the performance increase is not worth $50 more (http://www.anandtech.com/show/8959/ddr4-haswell-e-scaling-review-2133-to-3200-with-gskill-corsair-adata-and-crucial/8).

😀

OK guys. I ordered all my parts & assembled. Everything works! I can run most games at 60FPS ultra so that's awesome! Thanks so much for the help and I ended up going for a Gigabyte motherboard 😀.

IDK how to close a thread, so I'm just gonna leave it here. Again, thanks for the help!
