My old ram: gskill ares 2133Mhz cl11 2x4Gb

My other ram that I thought would work but didn't:
Gskill ares 1600Mhz cl9 2x4gb

Newegg:Avexir Core Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory Kit Model AVD3U16001108G-2CW http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-011-006

My motherboard: Asus z87-k

I tried the 2, 2x4gb's. It worked, but when I did anything with high ram consumption, I got the blue screen of death.

Solution
Try resetting the CMOS then try only the New sticks and see if the work. If so then try adding the old sticks and set the DRAM voltage to 1.56
When you set the four up to run together, did you go through your BIOS to set up the fact that your RAM timings and speeds are different? Mixing and matching RAM is a horror show... It gets iffy even when you buy the same exact item, nevermind things with both different speeds and timings...

But, to answer your question, the core RAM should work with your motherboard. It's DDR3.
