i have a msi military class 4 z97 pc mate motherboard
intel socket 1150
ram 8gb (4gbx2) -> gskill f3-12800cl9d-8gbxl ddr3-1600 pc3-12800
i was worried about the hight of the ram which i couldnot find on the casing it came in.

strix gtx nvida 970 4gb graphics card

case max hight for cooler 185mm

the cooler i was looking at is zalman cnps9500at http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16835118003

and is it good for overclocking?
will it get in the way or touch my other components?

how cool would the zalman keep my i5 4690k? ive been having issues keeping it cool on stock speeds with the stock cooler under full load playing games like gta5. it would reach close to 90c and start getting slow performance. i need a cheap solution until i can get my watercooling, if i cant overclock with it, thats ok. i plan on upgrading to a corsair h100i later on.

Maybe something like this, bequiet shadow rock 2.

Your budget is kind of low for any mid to higher end overclocking, more or less the entry point for decent aftermarket coolers. Better performance will cost more, $45 cad is basically $36 usd, around the price for a 212 evo or cryorig h7. You could likely do mild to moderate overclocks in the 4.2-4.3, maybe 4.4ghz range with the 4690k on those coolers. Your ambient temps and your particular chip (cpu lottery, how much vcore it needs to actually reach those speeds) will determine a lot of your success in combination with whichever cooler you use. Just wouldn't plan on max overclocks with that low of a budget though. Hope those suggestions help.
