Hi All,

I completed my first build a couple weeks ago and included these parts :

ASUS F1A75-M LE FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

AMD A8-3870K Unlocked Llano 3.0GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 6550D AD3870WNGXBOX

Well, Newegg sent me an email with discounted refurbished parts, and I would like to take the opportunity to get another GPU to complement my AMD A8 but I'm not certain if they'll work with my motherboard

I would also like to know if you guys think this would be a good idea or not. I've read some reviews that said adding a discrete GPU doesn't make a ton of difference, and I'm honestly okay with that - what I overlooked before was the lack of HDMI port on my current motherboard.

So, bottom line : would it be a good idea to get this discounted, refurbished GPU, with the main goal being HDMI-out capability?

MSI R4350-MD512H-FB-R Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

If you have a better GPU option for under $60 I'd definitely appreciate any advice.

Thanks guys
Eric

You can find a 5450 for cheaper, it's better, and newer.
This is $30.

Or this one is $18 after rebate.

It's actually weaker than your integrated. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4448/amd-llano-desktop-performance-preview/3 Alternatively you could get a 6000 series to hybrid crossfire which may increase performance.

you can use a radeon hd 6570 1 gb or radeon hd 6670 1 gb with the a8 3870k. both are decent cards on their own. they support hybrid crossfire i.e. they can crossfire with the integrated gpu in the a8 3870k and deliver slightly higher performance. other card that can hybrid crossfire is radeon hd 6450. afaik 6570 and 6670 might cost around $64-$99 range.

Wow - thanks for all of the help everybody. I had no idea the DVI picture quality was the same as HDMI... didn't even think to research that comparison. Since speakers are not an issue, I will go for the DVI-HDMI adapter.

Like I said, I'm very happy with how the picture looks thus far, just wanted to see what the best choice for going from 22" LED monitor to 46" LED TV... sounds like the adapter should do the job, since the systems share the same speakers anyhow

Thanks for all the replies, MUCH appreciated, saved me from wasting my money (on GPU.... now I get to get something else)
