Will this graphics card improve gaming performance on my pc?

I've got a very powerful gaming computer I just bought but I want a much better graphics card. I've finally saved up money to buy a very top graphics card: geforce GTX 980 Ti 6GB. The reason why I want such a top graphics card is because I play a lot of resource intensive games and I want maximum gaming performance.

My pc specs are:
processor: intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40GHz
ram: 16 gigabytes
system type: 64 bit Operating System, x64-based processor

So my question is will the graphics card improve gaming performance? I've heard that a computer with low end parts such as a weak cpu cannot handle powerful graphics cards too well. I think my computer can handle this graphics card but I'm not too sure, I don't have very much knowledge about computers.

You have the highest end CPU pretty much. It can handle 2 of those GPUs and it won't break a sweat so you are safe. No worries.

May I suggest the NVidia GTX 1080 over the 980 ti? The GTX 1080 offers more RAM and better performance.

I would suggest you to wait. Lots of newer cards withgreat performance will be coming out soon. GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and even AMD RX 480 all outperform even a GTX TITAN.
