Will this PSU be enough power for the HD5870?

My PSU is the 750w thermaltake toughpower. It says 18a per 12v rail. It has 4, 12v rails. It says 60a combined loading max.

I have the 5870 on order. Recommended amps per rail is 20a.(40a total, since it uses two rails).

So what does this all mean? Is 18a per rail enough, or will it use more since I will be using only 2, 12v rails.

Can someone that actually has some true knowledge on PSU's please answer. Not people that are just assuming please.

That's more than enough power for the HD 5870.

You have 60 amps on the 12v rails and the HD 5870 requires less than 1/3rd of that. Actually, you've got enough to go Crossfire if you wanted.

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended

600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode


ATI Radeon™ HD5870 System Requirements:

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended

600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode

The power supply recommendations are for an entire pc system. Figure about 40 amps on the 12 volt rail(s) for two cards operating in Crossfire mode

Its more than enough - I use my 425w enermax PSU with Phenom II 720 along with a GTX 275-which has higher idle/load power consumption than a ATI HD 5870!
