Will these parts run BF4 and other intense games on high settings? How long do you think it will be until I have to replace the graphics card and the like?

I completely agree with this build except for I would put in an OC'd FX4350 for gaming, and go with the AMD R9 280.

Your first point. I agree. I'd rather have a i5 over any fx-4xxx. Don't need to say much here, seems like a no brainer.

And yes the 280x is slightly better than the 7970. It's amazing that we can get a 7970 for around $300usd, when 12 months ago it was around $450-500. Definitely a case where buying "old" is totally worth it.

The 7970 is old, but still kicking @$$ of the newer cards.

I have to say, AMD makes some great graphics cards and for a good price, only if they could improve their dual GPU configurations then it would be the king.

They use open source solutions like OpenCL, Mantle and many others. They are way ahead of Nvidia in terms of innovation. But I am still not sure why is not AMD at the top? They are more than just competitive, they are innovative, they are more open.

Well.. if you ask me, then under 200 dollars, the AMD CPU's are very competitive especially these three models mentioned below :

1. Athlon II x4 760K for 80 dollars.
2. FX 6300 for about 110 dollars.
3. FX 8320 for about 150 dollars.

These are some of the best CPU's out there for under 200 dollars. Though I would agree that for 200 dollars, the i5 has the clear advantage of good Single Threaded Performance.
