Will windows 10 boot even if I change from UEFI to Leagcy

I wanted to boot my laptop from USB, but it doesn't work, even with disabling secure boot. There is an option to change the BIOS from UEFI to Legacy boot. I think that would likely solve my problem. I just don't know if Windows would still boot properly, or if I would come across other problems.

Laptop model: Acer Aspire E5 (or E15, I don't know the difference) 571-53S1

Hello there, I was encountering the exact same problem and here is how I fixed it:

1- You need to change your Bios mode from UEFI to Legacy.

2- Click F10 to save changes and restart.

3- Right after the boot press F12

4- Now select your USB drive from the list.

5- Continue with the installation.

depending what you are doing, you will still need to swap BIOS back to UEFI to boot 10 afterwards. If you reinstalling win 10 then it will do it in the install I think

is this it? http://www.acer.com/ac/en/NZ/content/model/NX.ML8SA.002

If you change it from UEFI to legacy, win 10 won't boot at all
Legacy requires the disc to have a certain format on the hdd and your drive won't have it so laptop just won't start

why do you want to boot from USB?

If win 10 still works you can go to a menu that lets you boot off usb without changing bios
from desktop go to settings/update & security/recovery/advanced start up
this restarts PC in advanced start up
choose use a device
put USB in to PC
choose the USB and PC will reboot from it

No, that's not the right model. (same series, but my specs are slightly different) I can't find the right link for it though. Anyway, I asked this because I've already tried the steps you provided , but it says "System has no USB boot option", or something along those lines.

what is on the USB? If its not bootable, you might get that error.

If your model came with win 8 it would have to be set to UEFI to boot for the reasons I said above. If it came with win 7 it would have already been set to Legacy or Win 7 wouldn't boot.
