If you get error 0xc0000005 run Windows Update Trouble-shooter
(which is going to be replaced soon - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...shooters-0c5ac9a2-1600-4539-b9d0-069e71f9040a)

I got the error and what should have been a 30 minute update was an hour. It was strange as modern setup was running by itself whereas it should have been running as part of the update assistant.

So far, apart from WIndows so nicely swapping my default Broswer to Edge and me rejecting its offer, I can't see any difference... which is what I said 2 years ago when I installed win 11 first time.

I don't mind Edge since it swapped over to basically being Chromium. I use it for my personal browser and Chrome for work.

The update has not given me any issues on the machines it would install to. For some reason my little 10th gen i3 work box hasn't given the opportunity to update, yet. I guess it will happen in due time.

-this reminds me that I need to get the laptop out, power it up and let it pull updates-

I don't mind edge either. I did a little experiment where I opened up the same exact tabs in both edge and chrome and observed the RAM usage. edge uses about half as much as chrome.

Edge is built into windows, its difficult to say if the usage you see for it is accurate as it might not be showing everything. It can use parts that might not add any memory usage as they already running.

what is the least resource-hungry browser? I personally use Opera GX, but I have no idea with regards to memory usage since I've just never checked.

I personally use Opera GX

it appears its the best by about 30mb if you have 10 tabs open*
it maxes at 870mb
Most other browsers start are around 900 and chrome is highest at 1tb.
*I can guess no tabs had Youtube on them.

I look at it this way, I have 32gb of ram, I don't care if my browser uses more ram. Firefox lets me block ads still, all chromium browsers might not for long. Depends when they were forked. Opera uses chromium... I used to like it when it had gestures and all that but not now its chromium based.
