Win xp Mem min

IMO, 256MB is just enough to have good performance with little slowdown. In a few systems I've built, my friends have said that they've barely noticed any slowdown. One of my friends even plays a few games, and still runs pretty good. If you do graphics and CAD, or video/audio editing, then more memory is best.

Anyways, to stop rambling, yeah...256MB would definitely be the minimum amount I'd put into a Windows XP-based system.

I'm using 256MB now for Win XP Pro, at 1st is ok but I feel it will slod down just for some Flash works with longer keyframe and bitmap photo.

I would say 512MB is better~!!

256 minimum, depending on what your using your comp for. Also, depends a little bit on what else is in your system.

Old age is a hoax.. Turns out to only be a severe back problem.

Have done a test today with Win XP
Spec
266 Mhz Cyrix
5Gb Maxtor
S3 4 MB Vid card
64 MB Mem
Windows XP loaded fine and runs no problem, have not tryed any heavy graphics apart from windows movie maker which also worked fine.
I then put in 256 MB mem to get a comparison with the following results from "Performance Tester"
64 MB 256MB
Megaflops 21.3 21.3
2D Bitmaps 4.8 5.2
3D Many Worlds 22.7 22.5
Memory Mark 25.2 25.7
Disk Mark 28.0 33.1
PassMark 20.3 21.5

Who needs 256MB !!!!!!
