I've been working with computers since mid 90's. Building, installing, repairing... Ms Partner for many years, but now, I'm ready to throw in the towel. Every single computer, my own and others, that have had the 1703 version installed seems to become very unreliable with BSOD's happening all the time for no reason. Clean install or via windows update doesn't matter. Intel, AMD cpu's, AMD, Nvidia graphics, Home builds or well known brands doesn't seem to matter at all. My own computer has been asking to install this update for weeks now, and has gone from a choice to ''Snooze'' to ''Remind me again tomorrow''. I don't wan't that crap. My computer runs just perfect and I need it 24/7. Most importantly, I work as a pro DJ and I depend on using the Pioneer software ''Rekordbox'' for my music. Pioneer has warned about several users having severe problems regarding Rekordbox running on W10 1703. Do I have to revert back to windows 7 to have a windows computer that just work properly. Half a year ago, one of the last big updates to 1607 ruined my installation and windows couldn't find the ssd to boot from after the update, which happened in the background without the option to not install this update. First two times, i fixed it using system restore, but the third time the update also destroyed that, so after 4 hours with ms support I gave up and started all over with a clean install. Can't do this over and over again. 1. Any suggestion how to close down windows update is welcome. I do want to be able to start it manually later. 2. How can I at least stop the reminder to install this update. I know it's there, I don't need the reminder. 3 Anyone who knows the name of the person who suggested that every update is mandatory and later decided that it's a good idea to release updates that for sure will render most computers useless. I'd like to have a serious chat with that person, or rather someone who can sack the ***** and leave a footprint where it hurts the most. The competition couldn't have asked for a more incompetent person... So, first time I can't fix a problem on my own, I really need some help. Anyone?

Solution
Use Microsoft's KB3073930 Wushowhide.diagcab tool to hide the upgrade. Run it, click Advanced, untick the box marked "Apply repairs automatically," then Next. When it comes back up, click Hide Updates and tick the box marked "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1703," then Next.

You should use 1607 until 1803 comes out next year as support for 1607 will end then. This may require hiding both 1703 and 1709 (which arrives Oct 17, 2017), but hopefully by then either Pioneer will have updated their software or Microsoft will have fixed the problem breaking it.
Hi I may have found the problem of the 1703 Update that won't finish installing I had that issue for a week! This worked:

I had 1703 feature update stuck in the last stage of install, wanting/needing restart to finish but restart would never finish it for about a week until tonite..
Simply put > Go to Windows Update and Security in Settings,
> then Advanced Options
> then check the box that says, "Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update."
I did two other things before I noticed Windows Update was checked green saying "Up to Date". ( Solved )
> I had also gone to Settings > Update and Security > For developers > changed setting to "Windows Store Apps".
> Then went to "Choose How Updates are Delivered" > paused > then resumed, updates and went back to settings.

Hope any of this helps.
It worked suddenly for me after changing the sign in authentication for updates as even I was thinking resetting my profile might of helped, I was thinking in the right direction at least.
I think it needed authentication to continue. My next plan was to try downloading as a business version thinking maybe that version works better, yet I is now called a "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1703" x86 - KB4041676.

It used to be called "Feature Update for Windows 10" while I had troubles, so I figure now,
that this is a new copy from Windows issued and downloaded for us on
Friday, October 28th, 2017.

Cheers,

Hey! Thanks for posting, but my problem was never the install not finishing. It's everything that did go wrong after the install. Now, just a couple of days ago I had the first computer updating to version 1709, and while not running into blue screens or other significant problems, the install completely created a new profile. No warning or prior info 🙁 . Not a big deal for some, but if you like me optimize settings, save a lot of your files on the desktop, having lots of shortcuts and using another language than default English in a lot of software... At the first login, this creates an immediate shock when you get to a new clean desktop and everything's gone. Starting programs and realizing that all the settings, not only language, is lost and has to be configured again. It's not a problem for me, just time consuming and highly irritating. For less tech savvy people this will create a lot of support calls to Ms and everyone that has above average computer knowledge. Not impressed Ms! How on earth some of you can keep your jobs is beyond me. To be completely correct, this was a newly reinstalled computer and there were only shortcuts, no files on the desktop, but it was a new profile created during the update with all the consequences that follows. My Documents and sub folders was migrated, no files lost. After everything was reconfigured, there were 22 GB files of garbage deleted with Ccleaner and the internal disk cleaning utility. All that as a result of the update. Keep in mind if you're on a smaller SSD and are running out of disk space.
