Hi everybody!

I have been having some issues with my Windows 10 when it comes to booting it up. I recently upgraded my CPU and motherboard to a Ryzen 5900x. This upgrade was a switch from Intel to AMD. I reinstalled the entire OS to give myself a clean start in redownloading all the drivers for the new upgrades. However I have been recently noticing that the performance and boot up is not exactly the best. The OS boot up just fine, however as soon as I type my pin in to login, it takes a good 15-20 secs on the welcome section with the spinning wheel that indicates it is logging in. From there, the OS loads up except for the taskbar. If I move the cursor down there, all I get is the loading cursor. When I double click on the taskbar while this is happening, the OS does like a refresh when you refresh a page on the internet. From there either two things happen, the OS loads up fine with the taskbar fully working as well as everything else. or it will show like a refresh and then continue to show the loading cursor again, having to double click it again.

I hope that I did not make that sound to confusing, but if anybody knows what is going on or experienced this before, please any recommendation will help. These are my system specs:

AMD Ryzen 5900x
G. Skill 32GB @3600mhz
NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti
Samsung 970 Pro 1TB Nvm.e
2x Samsung 860 1TB
Corsair hx1000i
AORUS X570 PRO WIFI

Where did you get the drivers for the PC?

Did you download mb drivers from https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-PRO-WIFI-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver
try updating Chipset drivers - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570
download NVME drivers from here - https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools/

If its only a new install I would maybe suggest reinstalling windows to see if its just a broken install. Where did you get the installer from? You could download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB, if you previously used an old installer.

Hi there!

So to answer you question I have downloaded the chipset drivers straight from AMD website for the X570. All of the motherboard drivers where installed via the AORUS website using their APP party center tool. It contained all of the drivers that needed to be downloaded on there eg the WiFi drivers, Ethernet, SATA, and so on. I have not gave the NVME drivers yet a try, gonna give it a try ASAP. I also already had the BIOS updated to the latest driver F34. The Windows 10 installation comes directly from Microsoft's website via the media creation tool. It is fully activated and fully updated with the Windows Update.

If it helps to simplify everything what I said, the issue is the Windows Explorer process that freezes up and hangs.

Okay so what I have done so far did not work. I assumed it was a hardware issue, however I just recently decided to download the Window 11 insider preview to see if it still cause the issue and the issue is no longer there. Games run great. bootup is insanely fast, and works like a charm in all honesty. My question is why??? I did a clean reinstall on Windows 10 twice, but for some reason it just simply kept doing the same thing? Could it be that my installer for Windows 10 is bad?
