I built a gaming rig about a week ago and last night I transferred all my files and Os onto a WD black. I havn't yet increased the partition. when I tried to turn on the computer the next day at first it worked fine. Then later in the day, I turned it on and it took extremely long. When it did turn on none of the icons came up and it went to a blue screen saying ' preparing security options'. After 5 minutes it came back to the home screen and I got the blue loading circle that would move in big jumps. The keyboard was completely irresponsive and when I tried to reboot it would just get to the loading part and do nothing.

I saw on a previous forum saying it happenes on windows 7 and that it could be a virus. However I don't think I saw it happen to anybody with windows 10. Would anybody know what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's usually a virus, or in the oft chance, a Windows Update, although the latter seems unlikely as it's not been widely seen by other users. If it was an update, it'd blow up.

If you can load into Safe Mode to run a virus scan, that'd be ideal. Otherwise you may just need to do a clean install of the OS. Of course if you have a backup to restore to, try that.

Once you're back up and running again, run a backup just in case, free backup utilities like Rollback Rx or Macrium Reflect work great.
