Well - if you have access to and know how to use an oscilloscope, then you may be able to see signs of a bad PSU. But most people doesn't have that in house.
Yeah correct. I may be best off just buying a brand new one to rule it out and they arent too expensive.

As i stated before, am i okay with buying any relatively good PSU (750W+ of a decent brand)? Will pretty much all PSU's be compatible with all hardware? Theres no specifics to it like other hardware components?

Well - no, that is not a "magical app with solution for all problems". I'm sorry, there are no such app out there.

far cry : Maybe the manufactor of the storage device(s) have a propriate tool for self-test of the devices.
