Windows 10 update and Photoshop issues

Yesterday my Windows 10 laptop did an update. In doing so it de-activated Photoshop CS3.

It won't re-activate despite being genuine.

I tried uninstalling, checking all files were gone with the Creative Cloud Cleaner, deleted the cache and reinstalled. I then uninstalled, made sure all files were gone again, there was no cache at all, and so I then reinstalled it.

I looked at FLEXnet, which was already set to manual anyway and clicking start didn't help.

I then tried the LicenseRecovery app a couple of times, restarting my laptop inbetween. That didn't help either.

Is there a specifc update that de-activated it which I could uninstall to get CS3 back?

Is there another update or patch I can download to solve the issue?

Is it worth uninstalling all updates or restoring the laptop to factory settings and not reinstalling the latest updates?

Are there any other options?

Thanks.

Solution
I just deleted the Adobe post as I resolved the issue, there were no replies.

My issue was solved after uninstalling, deleting all Adobe folders that weren't removed during uninstalling and deleting them from the recycle bin. I then installed it again as normal.

I think the issue was that although I deleted stuff before I missed a folder saved to my desktop and needed to delete the Adobe folder from the recycle bin that still had the details of the original product key.

Yeah, I agree, I think the update triggered it and Adobe servers have been retired so it resulted in being de-activated with no way of activating it again. Would have been nice to have some warning, but at least I've got it running again. Hopefully if anyone else has...

Thanks for replying. I bought the laptop at the start of this year. Set it up and created a restore point.

In My PC, under devices and drives, it says Recovery and gives a date of December last year. Going to Control Panel and Recovery it says there are no restore points!

I know for sure I created one though due to having issues in the past and restoring (or needing to and not being able to).

So sadly can't just go back a short way to before the update.

Since windows 10 is perfect, it has no need for the overhead of system recovery and will sometimes disable that capability.
While it might not help you now, I always configure system recovery and take some occasional user checkpoints. Particularly before any updates.

If it deleted the first point I made it could well have deleted later points anyway even if I had done them. I'll have to remember to check and add the restore settings more often though.

Seeing as that's not an option, would uninstalling the latest updates help? Or is restoring back to factory settings the only option?

If it allows it to work and means I have to avoid certain updates for now it's not ideal, but it's really important that I can use Photoshop. Right now I just need to get Photoshop working.

Currently, you don't what part, if any, actually impacted the PS licensing.
It may be something that just shows up again tomorrow.

What did Adobe say when you contacted them?

I haven't contacted Adobe, the software is no longer supported so they're unlikely to help.

I read that you need a new activation code and installer so went through the Adobe website to get them. It no longer says the same as before when I open PS, but instead I have a message saying that "licensing for this product has stopped working" and "You cannot use this product at this time". I don't know what the issue is though.

From this Adobe forum thread, this does not seem directly related to Win 10, or a specific Win 10 update:

Read all the way through. There may be some solutions in there for you.

Thanks. Although some useful information, I can't see anyone that's had the same issue as me. I've posted my own topic on the forums there though so hopefully someone has the answer!

Right.
Not exactly the same, but people have apparently been having issues with activation CS3 for years. Long before Win 10 and its various updates.

I'm thinking the recent Fall Update caused your CS3 to attempt to reactivate itself. Not anything specifically in the Windows Update, but just that it was a large update, almost a full reinstall.
The Adobe servers not available for that old a release, it returns as 'de-activated'.
