Hello

I am and have been having constant problems with windows 10 updates. It fails to install any cumulative updates and gives me the failed to update restarting loop. I have tryed the windows update repair tool but that didn't help. I noticed on restart it also gives a message which is very fast about fatal error 004+other numbers. I'm not a techy and don't know what to do but its driving me around the twist. Help and advice is appreciated , thanks.

Have you changed your installation directory by any chance?

This causes the Windows Update to fail. Try changing it back to the C:\ drive and it should work.
search cortana for event viewer
when it opens, look in the left column
select custom views
administrative events

now look in the middle view window and try to find the fatal errors that are showing on restart. Give us the event id and any description it gives under window.

right click start menu
select run
type Winver
tell us version number you are running.

one way to get updates is download windows installer from here: Media creation tool
you may have an option to update pc.. otherwise:
create a USB or DVD (depends what you have)
once made, run the setup file on the installer iusing File explorer and use it to update win 10

Thanks for replying.

Windows Version 1511

Its not just now its also future updates im worried. Where I brought my PC say its a fault with windows 10 and the best solution is just to reinstall it. Im concerned that what if it happens again as well as the inconvenience to lose and reinstall alot of my data.

The sfc/scan now come up with '' windows found no integrity violations ''

Malware-bytes found a couple of pup's but that is all.

Is it just windows 10 being really bad ? I never had this problem with windows 7. This is also naturally very frustrating and annoying. 🙁
