Hello Guys,

I just assembled a new computer.

Computer Specs :

AMD 5600G
Asus TUF GAMING A520M-PLUS
Corsair 8GB X 2 DDR4 3200MHZ
Corsair VS450
WD 1TB SSD NVME
LG 32inch 4K Monitor
AMD Stock Cooler
Windows 11

Problem 1 - Sometimes the Screen Image just enlarges(Zooms in - Things on screen get a little bigger than usual) for 5seconds and then back to normal.

Problem 2 - Sometimes it hangs and i have to restart the computer.

I have to tell you that many times my computer is ON for 2-3days straight,I don't switch it off.But sometimes these problems happen even if it is on for 5-6hours.

Please suggest a solution.

Thankyou.
Faustian Empire.

do you have newest bios for motherboard?
Do you have latest chipset drivers - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/a520
Do you have latest display drivers - https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-ryzen-5000

Problem 1 Reply

i had the second latest display driver(Driver Date - Novermber 2021),it was still happening

i just checked, they updated the driver on February 24th 2022 and i have just updated it.

But it only happens for 5seconds and it hangs for 5seconds

Problem 2 Reply

The Display output is still on but Computer freezes, the mouse and keyboard don't work.

Not sure what might cause problem 1, I haven't seen that before.
Hanging isn't windows, so it must be a hardware problem. Windows would create a BSOD if it was software.

try running this on the SSD - https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en&p=279
run any tests it has.

Results of the WD Test :

first thing I would look at: would be the voltages being produced by the power supply. See if your bios has a monitor that can tell you what the voltages are from the power supply. With the screen changes you described I would suspect a bad piece of electronics.

You can see if the problem happens without windows if you boot into bios and leave the system powered on and wait to see if you end up with a problem with just your hardware.

Then I would check any connection from the power supply to the motherboard and power supply to gpu and make sure the connections are good. Sometimes you can get a bad connection when the pin gets pushed out of the plastic holder when the connector is plugged in.

if you don't find anything wrong, I would then update the bios, If the bios is current, go into bios and change something and change it back and save. This forces the bios to rescan the hardware and rebuild the database of settings it sends to windows. Then windows plug and play will know what resources are already used by the bios.

After you boot into windows, do not run any overclocking tools while trying to figure out the problem. At this point you would update any motherboard drivers but do not install special motherboard utilities.
After this if you still get a hang. during a hang see if your keyboard still responds ie see if you can hit a caps lock or num lock and if you have a led indicator that shows its state. If the keyboard responds you would need to change the memory dump to kernel,, then make a registry setting to force a memory dump via keyboard, wait for a hang, then force the memory dump and have someone take a look at it to see what is wrong.

how to force a memory dump via keyboard:
Generate a memory dump by forcing a system crash (trendmicro.com)
be sure to set the memory dump type to kernel
after you make a memory dump you would copy the file
c:\windows\memory.dmp to a cloud server, share the file out as public and post a link so someone with a debugger can take a look.
------------
some special things to look for. for sata drives some ports have special meanings or share resources with other devices and functions make sure you are not using one of the special ports.
if your drive sata port has the option of hot swap, you might want to enable it for certain conditions. (mostly bad cable connections and firmware bugs in the SSD that can cause disconnection of the drive)

yes my bios has a monitor, even the desktop Asus App shows the same monitor, here is a screenshot

The screen Enlarging itself(Zooming in) has not happened since i updated the Video Driver released recently a week back,i will still post here if it happens again

but the hanging part continues,it freezes then i have to restart

will try to do that and update you on the results

Asus just released a Bios Update 2 days ago, have updated the bios.will keep you informed.

already done

the keyboard the mouse doesn't work when the computer hangs, also i have a wireless keyboard and mouse

will check about Caps Lock LED Indicator and let you know

Your Link is broken,it doesn't work,Please relink and describe this process in detail

My Western Digital SSD is NVME not Sata

change to a wired keyboard, ie usb plugged directly into the motherboard usb port.
change the memory dump type to kernel so you get a memory.dmp file rather than a minidump.
if the link does not work for you:
google "how to force a kernel memory dump using a keyboard"
then make the registry settings.

then at the next hang, see if you can force a memory dump.
-------------
make sure you updated the firmware for your nvme drive. and I would not run the Acronis True Image
software.

this gives a single stick, means you combined two single sticks to get a kit which can give troubles. Also Vengeance which doesn't seem optimized for AMD, you could check the QVL of your motherboard and see if this kit of ram has been tested, if not might it be wise to get a kit of two that are proven to work with each other and can be found on the QVL.

I am from India.

Ram Kits are not easily available here. They were available a few years ago but not now, most vendors sell single sticks
