Some of the .mp4's on my computer were transferred from a previous Win7 build. Of those .mp4's, some have the "Owner" under 'Properties/Details' as S-1-5-21-374..... A few of those have been able to have the 'Owner' changed to me via "Remove Properties and Personal Information" (note: it takes about 10 second for it to the process), but a majority of said mp4's remain with the owner being S-1-5-21-374..... Is that 'infinite' string of numbers the identifier of the old computer? Why did a few of the "Details" change and most would not? Is there a safe, "free" means to edit the metadata (the properties/details of the mp4)?

Those numbers are SID's (Security Identifiers).

That particular number pattern is used as a domain identifier. Knowning that can help with understanding registry entries. However it is generally advised to stay out of the registry and editing such things can and will likely end badly.

Another reason for changing SIDs is for hacking.

And, per Forum rules, we cannot help with that.

Closing thread accordingly.
