Windows 7 freezes on startup

After installing the latest updates for Windows 7 I restart the computer (the windows way) during start up where you have 4 color balls about to merge into a flag during that animation it froze and was unable to continue onward. I tried running Windows 7 startup repair and it was unable to repair the problem.

I'm running the OS on a Samsung 840 SSD, on an old Asus P5N-D motherboard that doesn't support AHCI so I had to connect an I/O controller that provides that feature, I also have 3 other hard drives. One is the Western Digital Velocopter used to run OS back then before I migrate to the SSD and format it; the two other HDD (1TB each) are set in Raid 1.

Would reinstalling Windows 7 be the only option? and given the hardware info I supplied, would there be any problems if I reinstall the OS on my SSD? Any extra steps I should take in my current situation before reinstalling Windows 7?

So I tried running in all three safe modes they all get stuck on "Loaded: \Windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys".

Also last time I've checked there was no system restore.

There was another option "Last known configuration" chose that and it works.

But NEwayz thank you for helping me out.

Alright so I'm bringing this issue up once again. So after installing windows updates the computer froze again on start-up. I tried all three safe modes and last-known good configuration but they all froze at a certain point.

I don't have a System image file nor can I access system restore point.

What are my only options? Reinstalling Windows 7 OS on my SSD will be my last resort.
