Question Windows 7 shortcuts not working ?

Hi all,

I have windows 7 on my laptop and all of a sudden all of my taskbar shortcuts disappeared. The apps are working normally when I open them from their original .exe file but whenever I try to add them to my taskbar or my desktop nothing happens. I tried dragging them and pinning them to the taskbar but nothing happened. Also when I open any app or the file manager the icon in the taskbar looks weird.

Anyone got an idea how can I solve this?

You might want to reinstall the OS, after verifying that the installer itself isn't compromised...though you probably already know this since you added a tag in the top of this thread. Yes, the OS is corrupt. Is the OS installed on an SSD or an HDD? Make and model of your laptop? An SKU would help us two fold. BIOS version for said laptop's motherboard?
