haha..

I'm going to buy this and show it to Steve Balmer in the next MS meeting so he can sign it.

Hey guys what comment do you think Balmer will write when he signs my win7 iPad?

bah this is misleading, windows 7 will not run on the ipad. Merely you can connect to a Windows 7 desktop via Citrix ICA. An actual PC must host the windows environment, so you can connect to it with the IPAD using citrix. Citric is definitely one of the better "remote desktop" technologies, but it's still slow as sin compared to running the operating system natively.

ah, don't worry, I was just joking around. I know how it works. :)

If loading up windows seven is straight forward like on a regular PC, they this will be extremely popular. If it is complicated (but does in fact work) i will consider buying an iPad

So, you can combine a $800 desktop PC with ~$500 worth of Citrix and VPN and Win7 license to make a $500 iPad just as good as a $500 laptop(assuming the coolness of touchscreen means more to you than being able to type on a real keyboard). Brilliant.

All this tells me is that the device was capable of running a full proper OS and doing multitasking from day one, but was deliberately disabled at the behest of Satan's little helper.

Thank you Citrix for helping us see through the wizard's curtain.

Apple, please, use this as an opportunity to release the iPad with OSX, let people at least have the choice of what they want to run, whether that be Flash or whatever. Now we know what you have done and we won't forget in a hurry.

Obviously, this connecting to an external machine as pointed out in previous posts... I have the option of remoting to my work machine from home and would be nice to use an iPad for this...

or you could just use your cheaper netboot with a 10 inch screen

if I had to use a ipad to do remote access on a server and I had to do some command line work on it, I would go crazy, no one wants to do command line on a crappy touch screen keyboard, also many of us who work on windows based servers will also tend to not only use command line, we may also do tasks that require a lot of use of both the left and right mouse button, doing all of this on a ipad will be annoying

but on a netbook, I can easily plug a mouse up to it and enjoy the extra 0.3 inches of screen space and do all of my needed work using a physical keyboard and mouse (also since I am not using a digital keyboard I wont have to lose half of my screens space to a digital keyboard)

the ipad sucks, for the price of one, you can buy 2 quality netbooks or 4 of then if you were planning on getting the most expensive ipad model
and you will have wifi and many other features (more features than the ipad) and if you need 3g, most companies will give you a free 3g usb adapter)

This is an awesome idea, what better way to combat apple than to use windows to make apple products better. Come on Ipod W/Win7

In AT&T's iPhone commercials, they say that the iPhone can multi-task. If the iPhone can multi-task, and the iPad is running the same OS....why can't the iPad multi-task???

Would it change my mind? Not really. If I wanted the operability provided by having windows I would use a Nokia N900 or something like that. My guess is that windows would run brutally slow on the iPhad. Its optimized for the massively stripped down OS it has.

Buying an iPhad for Windows just doesn't make sense. It has its uses like it is, they just aren't something I would get anything better out of from Windows.

Yeah. Because I have a citrix cluster sitting and waiting for me to use this.. Sure at work I do, but are you seriously going to buy an Ipad just to run citrix on it? My guess is that no business in their right mind is going to do that.

Personally I have used LogMeIn Pro on my iPhone for quite some time and have found it usable but slow at times and clunky on such a small screen. I could see it being more useful on the iPad with the larger screen.

I think a lot of the animosity for the iPad comes from people expecting a full computer but getting a giant iPod + Kindle. Personally I just want something for entertainment purposes that will let me surf the web some in my break time at work, that also functions well as an eBook reader, and that is ultra portable.

it looks like an oversized ipod touch.....
If you can use it as a real computer with something like those little palm PC's that run windows XP portable then its just a wast of money....
Oh, whoopee...
I already software modded my ipod and can run all kinds of windows based stuff....
Very handy for many things on the go....

BUT....

It wont take long for apple to come out with a mac computer that is verry simaliar to the ipad but with mac OSX or something where u open word & wala, a keyboard shows up...
NOW THAT I WOULD BUY!!!
because its a TOUCH SCREEN COMPUTER!!!
Actually, if its the size of the macbook air or slight bit thinner and a touch screen only..with ALL the slots like USB, E-SATA, HDMI, and such....
THAT I WOULD BUY!!! probly cost about 1200 dollaars but it would definatly be worth it!!!
But, I'd still stick windows on the thing....lol
I find windows to be logically better at everything....
mainly because its the main-stay and its structure it easier to fix, change, and play with than a macs....lol
And, I'm not speaking on feeling, I have actually done alot with both mac, linux, and Windows....
Its just my prefrence that i find windows easier....lol
Peace...

I have an Imac and to be honest with you i like the Imac better when it comes to Internet and video. But
it is sure a lame duck when it comes to games. I used the disk utility and put Win 7 on it and now i'm
back to playing my windows games. I'm living the dream i guess, two Pc's in one, I hope i don't get arrested
or deported for such a crime. I think Win 7 on an Ipad would be slick.......

why would you use windows on a IPAD when the IPAD will be a better system without all the stupid windows crashes and viruses. Windows will probably not be around for much longer anyway.

I havent looked into other tablets, but how many other tablets have multi touch? if your host OS supports it, but the hardware doesnt have it, seems like a nice middle ground. I'm a gadget freak, and while Apple's gadgets are really cool and whiz bang, I am holding off on buying anything apple bc I dont like the way they do things.

HP slate will have it's own downsides as well, short 5 hrs. battery life no one would bear! plus Windows 7 OS is not designed/optimized to run on low hardware spec multi touch devices. so the choice is unlimited for installing what ever software you need (not optimized for multi touch), BUT the end user will suffer consequences on overloading the whole processor and RAM, experiencing even Lower battery life, crashes, viruses, difficulties on operating some 3rd party software..

iPad is really an ideal solution since it's running on a native multi touch OS, and most of it's applications are optimized for on the go handling. But Apple is smart enough with their marketing scheme as they know their fan boys are going to buy what ever this new product would be despite the specs and facts. it's how Apple wants to routinely feed it's consumers. Slowly but never makes them hungry! as it's the most edgiest mobile device producer currently in the market. NO COMPETITION, WHY SHOULD I IMPRESS YOU PEOPLE SO MUCH! while they already got aloooot going behind the scenes in their R&D dept.
