NOTE: I Have seem threads on here of people having the same issue there solutions did not work!

Okay so I've been trying to install windows 8.1 on my friend computer VIA a USB Flash Drive in a 3.0 MOBO Port. After entering are product key and accepting terms of service I or my friend select install we click our 700gb SATA HDD and click next and we get an error saying that windows couldnt find a partition nor create one. To counter this me and my friend have made countless partitions all of them are very good at hide and seek for windows kind not find them either. we have done like everything that involved using the DISK PART in the command console and I can find a legacy mode on the MOBO (M5a78L-M/USB3) which some say work. Some say that I need to remove USB drives, but Im booting from one, and when I do and wait a couple secodns like some threads say I plug it back in with no luck. I have tried two different HDD's and Ive installed windows on an almost exactly identical build and it worked fine (HDD are not identical). I Have been trying to install windows 8.1 since 7pm it is now 2:51 am... Please Help.

This likely has nothing to do with Microsoft at all and is just your fault.

Download the storage drivers for your motherboard, put them on the installer, and when the installer allows you load drivers use them. It should work just fine after that.

Any Idea where to get this driver for my MOBO looked on asus not sure which one I need though

If your motherboard is asus, then it's in the asus site with all the other drivers. It'll be under "storage controller".

Also note that many motherboards have two disk chips, the normal intel one (that doesn't need drivers as long as you don't do special raid types) and perhaps a marvell or other company's sata expansion chip (which generally do need the drivers). Always use the intel ones for primary drives.

Still no luck finding a storage controller driver

http://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/M5A78L-MUSB3/HelpDesk_Download/ <-- storage controller right there for win 7, which means they never got around to making custom drivers for that system.

You'll likely need to re-do your installer

I Decided to play this PC's sick mind games i unplugged the main hdd and only did a small one and moved windows usb drive to a front panel 2.0 port instead... it worked so fuck it this shit is messed up oh well dont have to deal with it now
