Hi there,

We have recently updated all machines to Windows 8.1, and as a result our printer has stopped working.

It is a Lexmark X2450 - and the same error message appears every time, "there was a problem communicating with the printer"

This occurs in both trying to print as well as trying to scan. I have had a quick look for new drivers but this didn't solve the issue - nor did changing the USB cable, or swapping the printing ports - does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi mibix, we're thinking its drivers that might well be the problem.

We've uninstalled the devise & reinstalled from the CD, but that hasn't solved the problems, and its got a brand new ink cartridge in!

I had the same problem with a Lexmark X2650. Eventually located something called a "Lexmark Universal V2 Driver", which when installed etc still did not print BUT ...

The error message differed slightly and said something along the lines of ... "No communication, enable bi-directional communication in printer properties" ... So go to ...

DEVICE MANAGER
Printers
Lexmark XXXX
Devices and Printers folder
Lexmark XXXX
Customise your printer
Ports
Enable bi-directional support
OK etc etc

Once done, this solved the problem for me.

Good Luck
