I went to my settings and hit windows update check and it says that I have 103 updates. So I hit download for all 103 updates because it says they are all important and not the optional updates. My computer has been sitting now for 4 hours and it says it is still downloading updates but it also says this " (0 KB total, 0% complete) " how do I fix this and get the computer to download all the updates? Oh I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with windows 8 and I also want to upgrade it to windows 8.1 but I cant do that unless everything is fixed for the windows 8

Try resetting your PC, a lot of the times the progress bar is stuck at 0% but it actually is downloading. 103 updates is a lot and can be very large. Depending on your connection speed it can take a lot time. So try resetting it, see if it does the "Installing Windows Updates" message when it does.

After you reset go to Windows update in the control panel instead of using the one in the Charms > Settings to see if the number of updates has dropped.
A quick Google search on "windows 8 update 0%" (without the quotes) comes up with a lot of hits. This one has some solutions:

I have this problem too and also what do you mean by resetting the computer..Do you mean restart or refresh?
