blazorthon: Who cares about Adobe Flash for Linux? When I say Adobe Products, I mean everything but Flash... you know, Photoshop, etc...

Didn't know there was a native version of MS-Office for Linux... oh, there isn't. But it doesn't matter so much with Office365.

I'm playing with the latest preview of Win8... finally. On an OLD HP with an AMD X2 4200 w/1GB RAM.
Boot up time is 45seconds... shutdown a few seconds. (okay, clean install).

The Win8 desktop is kind of nice, I like the look... and xfer of files is nicer.

AERO isn't really gone, it looks different and loses the name. Functionality is the same, the buttons are the same.Just the silly shading is gone... the transparency is there and looks better.

First impression of Metro on desktop with mouse... usable, understandable - mostly. MS will most likely include a tutorial on how to use it. If the HIDDEN sides have functions, an icon or symbol should be there to SHOW you that there is something to do... otherwise, it TOOK me a WHILE to figure out how to turn off the damn computer.

I will agree with many here - the removal of the START MENU is BAD. Why?
For those applications you need access to on the OLD style Windows desktop... you can't get to it.

Its 20 minutes... I'm still trying to figure out HOW to get at programs... not GOOD.

If Windows 8 Desktop *HAD* a Start Button, I would have no issues installing this on my computer or a clients.

Afterall, there are functions in Windows8 that REQUIRE the desktop mode, so why not?

I will play with Windows8 some more... try to use it. But if I feel its not growing on me, then I'll have to buy a retail version of Win7 to last me till Windows9 or 10 or Linux.

With the issues people have talked about with Windows8, I've already DL MintLinux and will try it out on the same computer.

The Windows and the Mac version of Photoshop can run on Linux. The Mac version of MS office can run on Linux, but I haven't tried the Windows version yet, so I don't know if it can.
