Windows 98 SE acting as Windows ME?

Hi, i just formatted my drive and clean install windows 98 se with my retail os disc.

At this moment in system properties i noticed my windows 98 se pc is showing as;

so, is that some kind of virus or something? thanks for answers.

hmm. thats certianly the 98se version number. Did you install 98se2me by chance, or import files from windows ME to your system?
Maybe try reinstalling again.

No never installed se2me or anything its full retail windows 98 se edition with bootable floppy disk and never have or intalled windows me before.

have you installed drivers yet? that's the only other thing i can think that could do this.

its old pentium 3 pc with sdrams, and all drivers installed, including chipset drivers..

Are things working okay? id just go with it if the PC is fine.
