When I close down Windows 98 se I get the following message "Windows protection fault press any key to continue."
The computer then has to be turned off manually.
You may also have too much ram. I've seen people mention that 98se has issues with >512MB or even as low as 256MB. Low, lol. And 256mb was ridiculous for a computer back then. Makes the 256GB in my hp z420 look absolutely absurd.
Back in the day, as I recall, these types of issues were often associated with chipset/APM driver issues. You may find it difficult to locate drivers to resolve the matter.
