windows cannot install to this disk. something about the controller in the bios.

i installed windows 8 to my ssd and now i dont want to use my ssd so i tried cleaning my hdd and reinstalling windows 8 to my hdd but it gives me the error in the title. i have a asrock xtreme4 mobo. please help

It might be a conflict with IDE and AHCI settings in the BIOS. To get my SSD to work I had to switch from ACHI to IDE and I have to switch it back again to use my HDD as boot drive.

i have tried bot ide and ahci! should smart be enableD?

i am now getting a message saying that they couldn't create a new partition or find an existing one and i should see the setup log files for more info? any help

For the hdd, ide is what you need and ye smart should be enabled. Try and reformat again, make sure the ide controller is turned on, and maybe try using a different cable.

in my bios does the issue have anything to do with the name of the drive being ahci p1: then the name of the drive?

i switched to ide and it no longer calls it that but i am still having this issue

i am now getting both error messages the two are the first one that says i have to check the bios and the second one says they can't locate or create a partition? please help i am so confused
