I want to completely disable "microsoft software protection" ( Windows defender) on a laptop that i use as a "streaming pc" which for no reason peaks at +30% cpu usage even when i disable it... and that causes encoding overload...
I have tried disabling it using:
-Regedit
-normal Updates & Security method
-gpedit.msc grupo methid
-tasksch.msc disabling every WD option
-NoDefender an app that supposedly completely disables it
-winaero tweaker disabling it with it
-installing a 3rd party antivirus and disabling that antivirus also..

Nothing stops those +30% spikes its crazy!

I think that there is something wrong with your system. Since you started this thread I have closely monitored my system performance and Windows Defender. On average my Windows Defender uses about 0% and it peaks at .8%, so I think that there is something going on with your PC.

Sorry for the lateness in responding but I spent the last couple of days checking out this issue. I have checked a few different Windows 10 machines that I have access to and during all of my tests I never observed Windows Defender spiking over 1%. This leads me to believe that you have some kind of issue with your system. Instead of disabling the monitor that is built in to help you maintain your system's health, you should work to fix the actual problem of your PC.

I think the OP might start by using Malwarebytes to scan his system for malware that Windows Defender does not detect or eliminate.

Most computer enthusiasts are aware of that program and how well it works when others don't. If the OP is unaware of it he might head over to https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ and download that free version and run a scan on his system.

Simplest first step to do in an effort to fix the issue. If all is good then something else is wrong. But malware often increases CPU usage for no apparent reason.

You can't disable windows defender unless you replace it with another AV/firewall program, it will start itself up again when it finds its not running and no other AV/firewall is in its place. This is part of its defense and any AV program will do the same.

Most AV will scan all files going in and out so some CPU activity is to be expected. Since I have win 10 1809 and Task manager isn't showing accurate usage, I cannot tell how much bitdefender uses but its hardly a lot, it only uses lots of CPU if I let it scan my ssd.
