So I recently just built my pc only with hdd for the meantime cos Im out of budget, I also bought a windows digital license key for windows 10. And now I've bought me a new ssd and I'm planning to move the whole windows os from my hdd to ssd, will that void my windows key (is it one time use?). And what process do you recommend for transferring windows from one drive to a new one? I'm kinda new to all this, some insight would help so much. Thanks!

Solution
Best is to do a clean install using the Media Creation tool on your SSD.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

Leave the other drive disabled until activation is complete.

During the installation, you'll be asked to enter a valid product key. After the installation is complete, Windows 10 will automatically be activated online. To check activation status in Windows 10, select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Activation.

To obtain your product license key, Open an elevated Command Prompt and type in the following: "wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey". without the quotation marks.

The license is not affected.

2 methods of getting things on the new drive.
  1. Fresh install. Windows, and everything else. This always works.
  2. Cloning. Everything, all at once. This usually works.

How much space is consumed on your current C drive?
What size/make/model is the new SSD?
