4 days back my c:windows size was 2 gb , all of a sudden it increased to 6 gb , all files are multiplying and made my system very slow . all duplicate files names are starting with $symbal. i run the symantic anti virus it not detecting any virus, even malicious software i downloaded and run that one, no progress, it didnot detected single file.

My C:\Windows folder is 6.27 GB in size. This is from the initial install of Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and includes all critical updates since.

If the folder names begin with something like $NtUninstallKB..... they are placed there by Windows Update and they correspond to every update that's been applied to Windows XP.
