Hi all,

I'm wondering what a normal size is for the Windows folder and if there is anything I could do to decrease this size.

A Windows install is much more than just the Windows folder.

Couple of months ago, I built up a brand new Windows 7 install. After the install, Windows Updates, a small set of utilities (~1GB), and MS Office ~3GB)...it was 47GB used space.

There are multiple things you can do to reduce the overall size.
Turn off hibernation - uses drive space = to your RAM size.
Reduce the size dedicated to Restore Points.
Disk cleanup

I think it was the System Restore that stored so much on my hard drive. The current ussage for it is 27,28GB. Is it smart not to use this at all, because in the past I've never had to use this feature, and 27,28 GB is pretty much on my SSD.

You can reduce the size dedicated to Restore Points. They are useless space suckers, until you really need it...:)
