Windows messenger problem

Hello,
my son repaired my computer recntly but now unable to sign in on windows messenger-I click on SIGN IN -nothing happens CAN YOU HELP ME?

If you have an XP disc, put it in the drive. Go to start-->control panel-->add/remove programs-->add/remove windows components-->highlight windows messenger, and click next-->this will reinstall windows messenger.
