Sometimes my search button fails every couple of days for like 5 seconds, it may happen once or twice in a day when it does happen. It's not a big deal for me, PC runs fine etc. Just wondering if it's something I have to worry about?

Solution
how does it fail?
it doesn't register the click?
it comes up blank?
it doesn't show a result?

right click start button

choose powershell (admin)

type SFC /scannow and press enter

once its completed, copy/paste this command into same window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth
and press enter

SFC fixes system files, second command cleans image files, re run SFC if it failed to fix all files and restart PC

if its not finding an answer each time
  1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), click/tap on the Indexing Options icon, and close the Control Panel.
  2. Click/tap on the Advanced button.
  3. In the Index Settings tab, click/tap on the Rebuild button under Troubleshooting...

Sorry for the late response, I did do what you said and thought it worked so I marked it as the solution but the problem came up days later. Like said, it's not a big problem at all and only last a couple clicks then it comes back. I just wanted to show you the error it showed from event viewer. To note, the click doesn't register

  3. Click Additional Troubleshooting
  4. Roll your mouse down and click Search and Indexing and click Run Troubleshoot
  5. Follow the step on the screen, after it is completed, do a test and see if it works again

Some of the search results show answer might be malware so try running something like Malwarebytes or https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us

Ran malwarebytes and found nothing. Honestly, I don't mind it as it happens every couple of days for like 3-5 seconds and then it's fine. I just want to know if I can leave it alone?

Its possible it will be fixed by Microsoft in a patch so if you willing to ignore it, just do that.

I had a problem with windows for an entire version of win 10, but the next version update fixed it.

A repair install could fix it but that might be going too far for a small problem?
