Windows update causes automatic repair.

After trying to update my PC through Windows update, my computer crashed and I have to restore my computer. This has happened multiple times. Any idea what the problem is?

Ok now it is in an endless loop cycle. It does automatic repair which leads to it configuring updates which leads it to automatic repair ad infinitum. Is my only option to do a complete reinstall of windows?

You could try booting from the Windows install disk and attempt the repairs from there (it has it's own recovery mode that you can use), but I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make. If it fails, your only other option unfortunately is to reinstall Windows.
