Question Windows update has stopped pc from booting

My son built his own pc a month ago. We used his existing memory that had Windows on it, and the pc booted it just fine. Until today.
Today he did a update it was pushing.
Now it will not boot at all.

I am NOT pc inclined, but can follow directions.

I created a windows usb (new usb, formatted, media creation tool)
I inserted it in the pc (usb1) and went into the bios and set that to the 1st spot for booting from, but am still getting the "pc didn't start correctly"

We tried uninstalling updates.
There are no system restore points.
Troubleshooting didn't work.

He CANNOT lose his files on this pc. It would literally devastate him. (he has Autism. His pc is his life)
I'm hoping someone has some time to help me fix this mess.
Thank you

B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 is his motherboard thingy.

If you can not afford to loose data, my number one priority would be taking a backup. Hardware failure can occur at any time, you need backups. (even if this isn't a hardware issue today)

In this case I would put hard drive into another machine, mounted as a secondary data drive, and clone the drive to a backup drive.

This gives you more options as well. Once you are sure you have full backup you can more confidentially do a clean install of Windows, with the hope you can restore all documents from the backup later on.

But honestly there isn't just one solution for "not booting" could be a dozen different things and very time consuming in some cases even for experts. Do you have someone local who is knowledgeable to help you out?

So there's the hard drive we sourced from his old pc and the SSD we added to the new one.
Im not certain if his stuff is only on the hard drive...
I was *hoping* it was simply windows failing because it's not technically "installed".. Its more just... Moved. 😂

No, we don't have anyone local we trust. It would simply be a local pc repair shop who may.. Or may not know what they are doing. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Thanks for the reply.

You might get lucky and someone might guess at the problem, and it might be just software. Normal process would be to try to get into Window "Safe mode" and then roll back whatever update just happened. But if you can't get into safe mode and can't boot from USB either, then it sounds more serious. I would try CMOS battery removal and BIOS reset next.

What country / city you in? Someone might have suggestion for good local repair person.

Is it possible to simply use the usb windows to install on the pc or will it make things worse?

EDITED... Nvm. Won't let me open safe mode. Gives the option to, but then says it didn't start correctly.

We're near Seattle

I will Google both of those... Might as well be speaking Arabic to me. 😂
Thank you

Safe to say it's not finding windows on the pc at all?

Cmd prompt
Successfully scanned windows installations
Total identified windows installations: 0

Update. Fixed.

Used CMD and notepad to copy all files off his C drive, reformatted, downloaded fresh copy of windows off usb. ❤️
Thx for the help.
