So I will describe my issue in a series of bullet points as to avoid a super long read. Keep in mind I am a newbie to this forum so please bear with me!

- Had an issue with Windows 10 Home Edition hanging on shutdown when important updates needed to be done
- This resulted in PC getting caught in bootup loop as I was forced to turn PC off by button when each update would hang
- Had to reinstall windows from a repair USB, everything seemed fine
- Last night the issue happened again, left it running all night was still stuck, so turned off by button
- Turned PC back on, luckily update went through and can use the PC

That's enough for the bullet points, of course I will provide much more info if it means having a working PC that updates correctly. I am also mythed as to what to do until a solution is provided, because if I risk shutting down the PC then the same could happen as last time, so do I disable updates/is there a work-around??

Thank you very much in advance! :)

p.s. - If anyone has found a similar thread with a solution please feel free to post the link here to help myself and others. If you are experiencing a similar issue to mine please bump this post so we can enjoy healthy computers again!!

Solution
You can change your update settings to reflect your schedule such as setting the Active hours (system will not restart during these active hours, Restart option (you decide when the system will finish updates-system restart) Advanced options (which updates to get, pause updates).
Bottom line is Windows 10 is a bit different than other operating systems. Some updates do take a long time to finish, and if it fails to finish it will keep trying.

Doubt there is anything wrong with your machine or windows update.
