the printer was bought off ebay and it did not come with a software disk I downloaded the software off the hp web site
and the printer has worked with the rds software until recently I also installed a hp deskjet 720 seires printer which is
in the rds.ini file and the same thing happened to this printer what I want to know why is hardware wizard installing the
printer as a removable drive I installed a pantum p2000 laser printer and this installed correctly and worked with the rds
software what I am going to do now is that I will purchase windows xp home edition sp3 32 bit and see if this works

The driver sets up the removable drive because the printer supports it. This is a different function altogether than the printer function itself. Home vs. Pro has nothing to do with this. I suggest you not spend money on an obsolete OS.

Does the diagnostics program have its own printer setup function (like in its menu options)? If so, maybe you can set up this way.

Seems the printer works, just not with this old app. That indicates the issue is the app.

hi to all
tonight I tried an experiment
installed the hp h470 software and driver on to my medion laptop with vista os system installed when asked I pluged the
h470 printer into the usb port the same thing happened the hardware wizard detected it and installed it as a removable
disk drive after the installation I installed the rds software after it had installed I opened the rds software and tried to print
a test page it worked I can only come to the conclusion that the driver I downloaded for xp is at fault now I used my computer running windows 7 could this be why the download didn't work and that I need to download it using a computer
running xp
